The 2026 Best Friends Walk Together

Jazzy came into my life in 2006, when she was approximately 4 months of age and lived to be 19 ½.
She was a small terrier mix, weighing in under 20 pounds, but with the heart of a lion.
She came to us shy and timid; ears down and tail between her legs.
Then imagine my surprise, when one morning she came bounding downstairs;
ears standing tall and her tail curled tightly up on her back!!
She was home.
Jazz was a constant companion in my life;
She came to work with me every day and back home with me each night.
Weekends and vacations were planned with her in mind, and accordingly she attended all the animal runs throughout the years.
After the 2023 Run For The Animals, I took a much needed break from the event. Jazzy’s health was declining and I felt that my volunteers and sponsors, who had been with me for years, also deserved a break.
I lost Jazz on April 16, 2025, and a piece of my heart went with her.
We had been together 24/7 for over 19 years;
She will forever be a part of me.
Jazzy’s favorite thing was her walk.
She demanded her walk every day and I obliged.
Later when she could no longer make our route,
I'd load her up in her stroller and off we go.
So that was it;
A new event was born;
Best Friends Walk Together.
Thanks to all the participants, volunteers, and sponsors, a total of $5,000 was raised and donated to the rescues and shelters that serve the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
